An Hour with The Children: An Analysis

I started the story with the statement 'How charmingly naive'. Notice that over the story, the phrase has changed to 'how innocent' to 'how adorable'. This shows that the main character, which is "I", changed her perspective towards school children after one-hour interaction with them. The main character was portrayed as a cynical and sarcastic person in the beginning. However, after spending time with the pupils, she started to reflect more on herself. She was also shown as a proud person in the middle of the story. At the end of the story, she was shown to be less proud as she was willing to learn from the children. Her perspective began to change when the character Putera asked her unexpected question and she tried to answer. This story is all about changing perspective and it is delivered through the main character. The theme of love is also touched lightly when the main character tried to explain what love is towards the children.
.
The story is written from the first-person point of view since the main character is "I" and the knowledge towards other characters is limited. It also only revolves around the main character, who changed her cynical perspective towards children, the other character. It is also written as if the main character was telling her story by writing it in her diary or journal. Or the readers may read and imagine themselves to be the main character, and feel like the story happened to them and they are having flashbacks on the event. It is up to the readers' imagination as I only wrote the story.
.
I think that sums up everything I had in mind when I wrote the story. The emphasis of the story is on how the first phrase changed over the story, which portrays the main idea of this story. I hope you enjoyed reading the story and please, don't hesitate to leave comments!
